#HumanWildlifeConflict mitigation - Sleeping with a goat and cow to protect them from leopards...

Yes, this family sleeps with a goat and a cow, they are scared of an attack by leopard or other predator which would destroy their livelihood. I'm going to try and find them some netting tomorrow, maybe that will help them a little. It's Dashain, festival time, life is far harder for some than others, that's our world isn't it.
Manju (Anjel) was in their village collecting phone numbers. for the early warning system mainly to warn of wild elephants. The structure this family sleeps in wouldn't stand a chance. About 15 phones are needed but thankfully Bernd is in the country soon with a whole batch of used phones he collected from people in Germany. This is part of the "Living with Leopards" program, every little bit counts. We're hoping to cover several more villages before the end of the year. I'll say it again, if people are safe then less chance of retaliation.
I've done a lot of soul searching these last few days with this whole situation. There's so much rhetoric and bullshit about human wildlife conflict, I thank those who do more than actually talk about it, once again, oh for a dollar for every promise from both orgs and individuals. We'll keep going, one step at a time... people like the ones in the image deserve better and then wildlife will actually benefit... the world needs to even up a bit...
