Another magnificent leopard passes away...

Sadly the leopard I mentioned yesterday (on Facebook, he was caught in a snare aimed at keeping wild boar and deer away from crops) succumbed to his injuries, he passed away. It's difficult.
It's brings into play many factors including protection status, perceptions and lack of support. That's two magnificent adult male leopards gone within a couple of weeks. It makes me all the more determined we can successfully reintroduce to the wild the leopard Dipnani because at the moment the attrition rate is high. There's a lot on apart from that assignment including villages in the area needing the early warning system set up with the SMS alert, as we come into the main time for human-elephant conflict. But re the leopard, yeah, it's tough, I wish more people cared, oh for a dollar for every promise and "big talk"... RIP Chituwa, on with the day...
